Autumn Term 2

I am Henry Finch by Alexis Deacon

Henry Finch is a  loveable little bird who strives for greatness, gets it all a bit wrong, then makes it right again in a very surprising way – truly becoming great!

Halibut Jackson by David Lucan

Halibut Jackson is a very shy person. He prefers not to be noticed at all. So he makes himself clothing to match his surroundings. His library suit has a striped look to match the shelves. But when he is invited to a party at the Palace, he is flummoxed - what does it look like in the palace? At last, having researched hard, and sewn quickly, he is ready: only to discover when he gets there that the party is a garden party. A suit of silver and gold, covered in jewels, is definitely going to get noticed. But everyone admires it tremendously!

Autumn Term 1

Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak

One night Max puts on his wolf suit and makes mischief of one kind and another, so his mother calls him 'Wild Thing' and sends him to bed without his supper. That night a forest begins to grow in Max's room and an ocean rushes by with a boat to take Max to the place where the wild things are. Max tames the wild things and crowns himself as their king, and then the wild rumpus begins. But when Max has sent the monsters to bed, and everything is quiet, he starts to feel lonely and realises it is time to sail home to the place where someone loves him best of all.

Bringing the rain to Kapiti Plain by Verna Aardema

When a terrible drought hits the beautiful Kapiti Plain and the animals leave, young herd boy Ki-pat must find a way to end the drought and save the wildlife on the plain.
