The Pupil Development Centre (PDC) supports the emotional well-being of all our children, from Reception Class through to Year 6.
We all know that children learn best when they feel happy, safe and secure. These days there are many different pressures on children that can sometimes result in them feeling anxious, worried or unhappy.
The PDC offers a safe place for children to learn about understanding feelings, and working and playing together. We do this in individual or small group sessions using play, talking, creative activities and music. We will also support parents and carers in helping children to feel happier in school.
Aims of the Pupil Development Centre
Who can go to the PDC?
It is envisaged that during their time at Crampton School most children will benefit from using the PDC at one time or another. This could be during open sessions at playtime and lunchtime, or it could be on a weekly basis to address more specific issues. Children are identified for PDC intervention through discussion with parents, teachers and support staff.
Some of the issues that the PDC can help with are:
The PDC is a place of learning, and often fun. Sessions do not normally take place during Literacy, Numeracy, PE or special activities in class.
